1. Introduction and definitions
On 12th January 2019 the Italian Government issued Decree No 14 contain-
ing the ‘Code on business crisis and insolvency implementing Law No 155 of 19th
October 2017 (Codice della crisi d’impresa e dell’ insolvenza in attuazione della
legge 19 ottobre 2017, n. 155).2 is Code will enter into force on 15th August 2020,
with the exception of a few prescriptions which entered into force on 16th March
2019. is Code will henceforth be abbreviated to ‘CCI’.
e CCI is a very ambitious piece of regulation, containing a s many as 391
prescriptions. is will replace both Royal Decree No 267 of 16th March 1942
